American-Made Bicycle Brands: Explained | Upway

The overwhelming majority of large companies in the United States outsource their manufacturing for financial reasons. This means that a lot of the recognizable names you will see in this article design and engineer their bike in the United States, but do not actually make the frames here. The most common places for bike frame manufacturing include China, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Cambodia. Finding a fully American-made bike becomes even more difficult when you consider the rest of the bike outside of the frame. Components like seatposts, derailleurs, cranksets, and more are often made by a different company. These products have a similar reality of outsourcing manufacturing. Even SRAM, the most popular American component brand, does most of its manufacturing overseas.
